CIIMAR

The CIIMAR - Interdisciplinary Centre for Marine and Environmental Research is a non-profit association dedicated to research, dissemination, and technology transfer in the area of Marine and Environmental Sciences.

Currently, the team of researchers from CIIMAR includes 125 permanent members with PhD. Besides these, a large number of PhD students and masters, as well as research technicians, have been involved in projects from the Center, corresponding to an average of approximately 250 people in recent years. The vast majority of these elements are connected to two schools, University of Porto - Faculty of Sciences (FCUP) and the Institute of Biomedical Sciences Abel Salazar (ICBAS).

Research undertaken by CIIMAR has focused primarily on biology, ecology, ecotoxicology, Parasitology, Physiology, Nutrition, Cultivation of Aquatic Species and Chemistry. In addressing these issues, researchers from CIIMAR are divided into two main subject areas, with four lines of inquiry.
